6/21/2014 - Chad Boespflug wins sprint car feature No. 3 at Lincoln Park Speedway as Jesse Cramer wins the Modified Mid-season A-main.

PUTNAMVILLE – On Saturday evening at Lincoln Park Speedway, there were several story lines and a few winners that made their way to victory lane after multiple successes at the Putnamville oval. However, Dan McCullough, found his way to the front stretch flagstand for the first time since 2006 as he piloted his No. 18 UMP Super Stock to the checkered flag ahead of his brother, Doug, to add another chapter to a storied career.

Chad Boespflug was also a repeat visitor to the winners’ area as he put Paul Hazen’s No. 57 in the limelight after holding off a determined Jerry Coons Jr. over the final laps in the sprint car feature. The pair fought through lapped traffic to the finish line while bringing the crowd to its feet over the final circuits. Boespflug won his third feature of the season at LPS.

In the UMP Modified Midseason Championship feature, Jesse Cramer re-visited victory lane for an $800 payday as he pulled away from Randy Shuman over the second half of the race to claim his second feature at Lincoln Park.

The final race of the night went to Carlos Bumgardner Sr., who made his way to the point with several laps remaining to pick up the victory after fending off the charges of David Bumgardner, David Wallen and Blake Cross down the stretch.

The first feature of the night set the tone as Boespflug took the lead quickly in the sprint car A-main, taking the green flag adjacent to Kent Christian. However, Boespflug rocketed to the lead with AJ Hopkins in tow.

The pair were locked in a tight battle for the top spot early on as Boespflug and Hopkins were wheel-to-wheel ahead of Christian, Chris Phillips, Brian Hayden and Landon Simon.

A caution reset the field after seven of 25 laps and gave Hopkins a great opportunity at the lead.

When the field went green, Hopkins made his move against Boespflug and the duo swapped slide jobs for the lead through lap 15. Coons had joined the front running pair awaiting his chance. He got that opportunity when Hopkins and Boespflug made contact, which slowed Hopkins in turn two. The caution sent Hopkins to the back of the lead pack and set up an eight-lap dash for the cash.

Boespflug and Coons charged ahead as Brent Beauchamp took over the third position after clawing back from the tail after an early spin. With five laps remaining, Boespflug held fast to the top line into lapped traffic.

The front running pack was charged with fending their way through multiple lapped cars and Coons caught the leader with two laps remaining.

The pair went three wide with one lap left as Coons made it three-wide with a lapped car, but Boespflug held on to the victory. Beauchamp placed third ahead of Hayden and Dickie Gaines.

In the UMP Modified feature, Cramer parlayed a runner-up spot in his heat race into a pole slot for the A-main. From there, he never relinquished that spot as he led Kenny Carmichael Jr. and Gary Hayden early on with Wes McClara and Wayne Newlin battling behind them.

Midway through the 25-lap event, Cramer was in control as Shuman went to the bottom in pursuit of Carmichael. While Cramer held the point over the final laps, Shuman was able to edge his way to the runner-up spot ahead of Carmichael and Hayden.

Shuman claimed second ahead of Carmichael Jr., Hayden and Roger Cary.

The UMP Super Stock feature proved to be a big night for the McCullough family as Dan McCullough led from the outset and held off Doug McCullough at the checkered flag.

Steve Peeden challenged the lead early and was door-to-door for the point after a re-start, but was penalized several spots after jumping that start. When the field went green once again, Cullen Goodman was in the fray ahead of Doug McCullough and Kenny Carmichael Sr.

As the laps ticked off, Dan McCullough maintained his line and held on despite a spirited challenge from Doug. Goodman placed third ahead of Carmichael Sr. and Peeden.

The final feature of the night was also eventful with David Wallen leading most of the race as Tim Wright, Blake Cross, Carlos Bumgardner, and David Bumgardner were in the lead pack.

Wallen held on to that lead before Wright advanced into challenge for that position and the two made contact racing for the point. Wright suffered a flat tire and went to the tail, setting up the final battle between Cross, Wallen, and both Bumgardners.

On the restart, Cross jumped to the lead, but would be penalized several spots for starting early. With two laps remaining, Bumgardner took over the lead, edging past Wallen to gain the victory ahead of David Bumgardner, Wallen and Cross.
