126 Cars Pack The Pits At Lincoln Park Speedway Saturday Night.

MSCS was back at LPS and 32 sprints were in attendance for the battle for $3,000 to win. The 4 heat race winners were Isaac Chapple, Carson Garrett, Emerson Axsom and Chase Randall. Also 2 guys that had to start last in their heats that put it in the A main were Chase Stockon who came from Springfield after the Silver Crown race and Jake Scott who came late after coaching a football game. A great run for both to prove no matter where you qualify there is plenty of room at LPS to make up a lot of spots and make the A main. Midget Ace Chase Randall would set a fast pace for the feature and he had Emerson Axsom also debuting in a CMR car really were very impressive early. Axsom had a right front go down so he had to go to the work area but he would still get back in the top 10 at the end of the 30 laps. After Axsom had his problems Randall restarted on the cushion and was starting to get into lapped traffic. He looked like a season veteran in doing so and went on for the 3 grand payday in the AME entry. A great show that had Brady Short, Isaac Chapple, Tye Mihocko and Jadon Rogers rounding out the top 5.

The MMSA mini sprints brought a very strong 33 entries to LPS and as always they put on a great show. There 4 heats were won by Cody Knieriem, Jeff Schindler, Brad Strunk and Kayla Roell. Their feature went to Brand Strunk in a strong run by the #23 entry. Kyla Roell, Cody Trammell, Brandon Coffey and Jeff Schindler rounded out the top 5.

The UMP Mods had 20 entries and the 3 groups were led in qualifying by Matt Mitchell (14.600), Derek Groomer (14.835) and Brian Hayden (15.029) Heat Races were won by Matt Mitchell, Derek Groomer and Rob Brickert. This setup the A main and the invert of 2 was pulled which put Groomer and Mitchell on the front row. Derek and Matt would have a fierce battle early with Derek pulling away and taking the top spot. When you put Derek on the front row it is tough to get a win from him because he is having a great season at 6th in the nation and leading the Southern Indiana points. Groomer would hold on for the win over Tyler Loughmiller, Matt Mitchell, Rob Brickert and Jeff Deckard rounding out the top 5. Don’t forget next Saturday the Mods go for 33 laps in honor of our great friend Gary Ricketts in the “Buckeye Bob 33” . Big money on the line and usually over 30 mods which could also be a huge night for UMP points because anything over 25 gives out those precious bonus points with only 6 weeks left in the UMP points season nation wide.

The Super Stocks had 24 entries and the fast times in each group were Austin Phelps 15.416, Chris Bennett 15.451 and Wes McClara 15.170. The 3 heats were won by Austin Phelps, Andrew Pollock and Kenny Carmichael Jr. This setup the A main with an invert of 3 drawn which put Kenny Jr. and Andrew on the front row. Early in the race Andrew and Kenny ran side by side for probably 4 laps before Andrew took the lead away. Kenny Jr. would go to the top groove on the curb at LPS and even though he dropped to 3rd as soon as he got to the top he would take the Ricketts entry back to the lead. This proved to be the winning move because the cushion was faster than the bottom. Kenny Carmichael Jr. would get the win over Justin Massie, Andrew Pollock, Austin Phelps and Travis Heramb.

The final division and one of my favorites the Bombers had 17 entries. The 2 fastest in their groups were Jordan Almanza with a 16.304 and Joey Raber with a 16.146. Heat races were won by Jordan Almanza and David Bumgardner. This setup the feature with an Invert of 2 which put David on the pole for the feature. This would be a wild one as David started with the lead but Jordan was very strong and moved to the top spot. Joey Raber must have watched the super stocks because he headed to the top and went from 4th to 2nd and was catching the 14J towards the end but Jordan held on for the win over Joey Raber, David Bumgardner, Gary Hayden and Josh Foxworthy in the top 5. The next 3 weeks at LPS are huge events and you won’t want to miss them. Next Saturday the mods go for the big payout for the Buckeye Bob. We hopefully will see you next Saturday to enjoy another great show to honor a legend the #133 Gary Ricketts. Thanks to all our great drivers and fans for another awesome night at LPS!!!
