Lee Hobbs Wins The Jon Dome Memorial Race Over The Top Super Stocks In The Nation

The Jon Dome Memorial Race will definitely be one to put on the calendar for fans as it brought 32 strong entries and most of the Top 10 in the nation to do battle. Thanks to Jon’s family and friends who put on this race because it was amazing the talent from all over that showed up for it. Heat race 1 had Colton Sullivan winning it over Chris Bennett, Randy Petro and Sam Arthur. Heat race 2 Lee Hobbs won it over Danny Hupp, Cale Kern and Isaiah Sasser. Heat race 3 went to Greg Amick over Zach Sasser, Ralph Groomer and Tucker Chastain. The final heat wen to Wade Goodale, Nick Kinnett, Devin Wallen and Reece Novak. As you can tell all 4 heats were loaded with track champs, national champs, regional champs and the best in the country for sure. The last chance to get in was like a feature at our tracks on a normal night with Travis Heramb taking the win over Hayden Groomer, Cody Tate and Ross Smith. This setup the 22 lap Jon Dome Memorial for $2200 to win. Lee Hobbs around lap 3 stormed to the lead and was really strong on the bottom of the fast LPS clay. Behind him was a loaded battle between Amick,Goodale, Sullivan, Wallen and Bennett. This was the crown jewel for talent at 1 track in the UMP Sportsman. Lee was able to build a good lead and take the big win. Following him at the finish it was Devin Wallen, Wade Goodale, Zach Sasser, Colton Sullivan and Hayden Groomer who came from 18th to 6th. Once again thanks goes out to all 32 Super Stock teams for coming to the 1st annual Jon Dome Memorial because it was fantastic.

The back row was full with 32 sprint cars entering for the evening and it was another great field of our heroes on a Saturday night. The 4 heat races were won by Seth Parker, Jesse Vermillion, Zack Pretorius and Kyle Johnson. The B main last chance to get in was won by Blake Vermillion. The A main would be another classic up on the curb. Seth Parker was leading over Tye Mihocko and Chance Crum and they were all 3 inches from each other pounding the top side. Unfortunately that battle got interrupted as Cody Fendley caught the curb off of turn 4 and spun around the flagstand and Seth could not miss his spinning car and brought out the red and ended his night as the leader which was a bummer because the 38P had a great run at the front going. On the restart Tye Mihocko took over the lead and was really looking strong on the top with Chance Crum also on the top but Kyle Johnson and Jesse Vermillion had the bottom rolling as the had got to 2nd and 4th at one point. The 24P was on a mission and would hold off the others hitting his marks perfect on the last 10 laps and Tye would pull off the big win. Tye was followed at the checkers by Jesse Vermillion, Cale Coons, Brandon Spencer and Zack Pretorius. Cale Coons had an amazing charge to the front as he came from 20th to 3rd!!!! Thanks to all the sprint car teams who really put on another outstanding show.

The UMP Mods had 11 entries as they only have 2 weeks to get ready for the big Buckeye Bob 33. Tonight it was dominated by the Rensselaer drivers. Derek Losh and Matt Mitchell won the heat races. In the feature it took a couple laps but Derek in his #21 flew to the lead and started to build the lead by almost a full straightaway. Behind him it was a good battle between Matt and Nathan Voorhies. Even though it was a small field of cars there were some great battles high and low from 4th through 9th also. Derek Losh took the 20 lap win over Matt Mitchell, Nathan Voorhies, Jake Straka, Jason Cox, Rob Fuqua and Scott Ricketts.

The Bombers had a big field of 21. Heat races went to Josh Foxworthy, Josh Vancleave and Will McRoberts. This setup the A main and it would be a good battle with a lot of strong cars. Josh Foxworthy took the win over his teammate Scotty Tidwell, Isaiah Smith, Katie Grigsby and Eli McRoberts. Thanks to all the teams that put on an excellent show at LPS. It was great to see the pits full with over 100 cars and a loaded field of talent. See you next Saturday at LPS where it is the final tuneup for the mods for the big show on August 23rd
