Cale Coons scores the checkered flag the second time this year!
The LPS back row was filled again with 34 sprints. Heat race 1 had Kyle Johnson take the win over Austin Nigh, Tye Mihocko and Michael Clark. Heat race 2 was another dandy as Evan Mosley got the win over Nick Bilbee, Mason Giddens and James Boyd. Seth Parker won heat 3 over Chelby Hinton, Kevin Thomas Jr. and Chance Crum. The final heat was won by Cale Coons over Brandon Mattox, Bryan Brewer and Logan Prickett. Jake Scott won the B main over Brandon Spencer, Travis Thompson and Owen Barr. This setup the A main and the #63 or Cale Coons was on a rail for 25 laps as he stormed from the 4th starting spot to take the lead in a very short amount of time. Cale was very good up on the cushion at LPS and the moisture was still in the clay most of the night so the speeds were very high. He got to a lead of 8 car lengths and started to see lapped traffic ahead. Sure enough he was smooth the final 10 laps and picked up his 2nd big win of the year at LPS. Following him at the checkers it was Evan Mosley, Kyle Johnson, Nick Billbee, Chelby Hinton, Tye Mihocko and KT Jr. The talent of youth is very strong in this state on the Non Wing side for sure and these teams put on another excellent show and that is why we call them our heroes. Thanks again to all 34 teams for another classic.
The Bombers had 13 entries and Josh Foxworthy and Katie Grigsby won the 2 heat races which set them both on the front row of the A main. Josh would pull off the 15 lap A main win and build his point lead more towards the title. Following him at the checkers it was Scott Tidwell, Katie Grigsby, Josh Vancleave, Randy Foxworthy and Matt Grimes.
The UMP Super Stocks had 15 entries and it would be another great show as Wade Goodale and Cody Tate won the 2 heat races. This setup the 20 lap battle and Wade looked to have the #14 back on a rail like all of his wins in 2024 and he would get the job done Saturday and take the big win over Reece Novak, Lee Hobbs, Roy Bruce Jr. and Cody Tate.
The final tuneup for the UMP Mods before the big show had 18 entries. The 3 heats were won by Jerry Bland Jr, Jordan Wever and Cody Wright. This setup the 20 lap A main and a final setup before the 2 grand to win Buckeye Bob this Saturday. Jordan Wever looked very strong in his new ride the 15K and would take the win. Following Jordan at the finish it was Tyler Loughmiller, Michael Kettnich, Matt Mitchell, Cody Wright, Jarod Deckard and James Walters. This Saturday night should be a full pits of mods going for the big check in honor of the Ricketts family. Thanks to all the teams who came out to LPS and put on a great show beating the rain with all features done before 9:30 pm. See you Saturday at LPS for another fun night. Who is your pick to win the 33 Lap feature and will we have some out of state UMP cars show up for the big show.
