Jadon Rogers Wins Opening Night In A Slider Classic

Opening day at LPS wow it was a dandy with 45 sprint cars filling up the pits. Like I always say it is great to live in Indiana seeing all this talent every week. The 5 cars that set fast times in their groups were Brandon Spencer, Shane Cottle, Todd Hobson, Kyle Shipley and Jadon Rogers. This setup 5 heats only taking the top 3 and 2 b mains only taking the top 3. It was a very tough field to even make the show at LPS. Heat race 1 Braxton Cummings won it from the pole over Jesse Vermillion and Aidan Salisbury. Heat race 2 fast time Shane Cottle came from 4th to pick up the big win over Harley Burns and Cody Trammell. Heat race 3 from the pole Austin Nigh won it over JJ Hughes and Jake Scott. Heat race 4 Chance Crum in his new 24P ride won it from the pole over Kyle Johnson and Kyle Shipley in a great battle. The final heat was won by Brandon Mattox who held off Jadon Rogers and Colin Parker for the win. It shows how tough the field was because Brandon Spencer and Todd Hobson both quick times had to go to the B mains. This setup 2 B mains and they were like features with the talent in each one. The 1st B main Daylan Chambers came from 4th to win it over Brandon Spencer and Evan Mosley. The 2nd B main Seth Parker won it from the pole over Todd Hobson and Michael Clark. Once again I want to thank all 45 teams who put on a classic the 1st night. Even the 25 cars that didn’t make the show you all are very stout and we appreciate you for the awesome show it was. This setup the A main and drawing the front row it was Brandon Mattox and Jadon Rogers. This 25 lapper didn’t have many fans on their seats long because both the bottom and top had guys throwing wild sliders most of the entire race. Brandon and Jadon had a great early battle but then here came the 34 of Shane Cottle in the mix. These 3 would change the lead and different positions and were throwing more sliders than I think White Castle does on a Saturday night ??. It was hard for me to score them because I wanted to look up and see where the next slider was coming from. Just kidding my score sheet has all the numbers it was just me peeking in turn 3 and 4 to see what was coming next in slider country. Even behind the top 3 there were positions changing from 4 to 10 that is why I will always argue with anyone it is way better to be at the track instead of watching on streaming because you can’t see the great passed back in the pack. Jadon and Shane from like lap 8 through 15 probably threw close to 20 sliders in total up front. The 14 would hit the cushion just right late in the race and drove his 14 rocket to the checkers taking the win. Following him at the finish it was Shane Cottle, Chance Crum, Brandon Mattox, Harley Burns, Cody Trammell, Braxton Cummings, Cody Trammell, Aidan Salisbury, Colin Parker and Austin Nigh rounding out the top 10. The passing was great because Chance came from 8th to 3rd, Cody 13th to 7th, Colin 15th to 9th, Seth 17th to 11th and Todd 20th to 12th. Congrats to Jadon on the win and all 45 teams for an amazing start.

The UMP Super Stocks had a big field of 21 cars. The 3 fast times went to Randy Petro, Chris Bennett and Matt Raber. Randy came from 4th to win the 1st heat over Devin Wallen and Jordan Almanza. Heat race 2 had Lee Hobbs from the pole win it over Kenrick Neal and Cody Tate. The final heat was won by Hayden Groomer over Dustin Bruce and Wade Goodale. This setup the A main with Matt Raber and Randy Petro drawing the front row. Matt looked really strong early in the 20 lap A main but here came the HO from the 5th starting spot and by lap 5 he was on the rear bumper of Matt in 2nd. He made a strong move for the lead and ended up leading the 2nd half of the race taking the first checkers for the Super Stocks in 2026. Following Lee at the finish it was Matt Raber, Devin Wallen, Dustin Bruce, Randy Petro, Jordan Almanza and Chris Bennett. This class this year will have some great shows like all 4 classes but loaded with some of the best talent in the UMP Sportsman ranks.

The UMP Mods had 15 entries and the fast times in their groups were Derek Losh and Matt Mitchell. Heat 1 Derek ran to the front and passed the pole sitter Race Liberante for the win with Race, Wes McClara, Jerry Bland Jr. and Scott Ricketts in the top 5. Heat race 2 Cody Wright led the whole way from the pole over Matt Mitchell, Tyler Loughmiller, Jason Cox and Lucas Pace in the top 5. This setup the A main and Derek pulled the number 1 ball. The 21 was very strong all 20 laps and Derek Losh visited victory lane at LPS on night 1. There were some great battles behind him from 2nd thru 10th though with cars low, middle and high. Great show for the UMP Mods night 1 with Derek Losh picking up the win over Tyler Loughmiller, Cody Wright, Matt Mitchell, Wes McClara, Race Liberante, Jason Cox, Lucas Pace, Tyler McGhee and Scott Ricketts finishing in the top 10.

The Bombers had 14 entries and the fast times went to Sheldon Oberle and Nathan Arterberry. Sheldon showed his speed in heat 1 as he headed to the front and took the win over very good drivers Josh Foxworthy, Scott Tidwell and Corebin Mcroberts. Heat race 2 Katie Grigsby won it from the front row over Josh Vancleave and Brenden Birkla. This setup the A main with Katie and Sheldon drawing the front row. Sheldon put his 105 in victory lane after 15 laps of hard racing as he held off Josh Foxworthy, Katie Grigsby, Scott Tidwell and Corbin McRoberts. Thanks to all our great 95 race teams that kicked off a great 2026 season at LPS. Also thanks to all the great fans who came out night 1 to really kick off an exciting season. May 9th we will see you next at LPS with our 4 classes plus the Kenyon Midgets. See you at LPS then for more exciting moves on the giant cushion!!
