Ensign And Mihocko Put On Another Classic Battle On The Top Shelf At LPS

The Gates were open at 3:00pm at LPS and by 6:00 we were at full capacity almost with 138 entries. 43 Sprints were ready to do battle in a 5 heat format taking the top 3 and 2 b mains taking the top 3. The 5 fast times in their groups were Andy Bradley, Tye Mihocko, Brandon Spencer, Geoff Ensign and Seth Parker. The invert for the heats was a 2 and the heat winners were Zack Pretorius, Tye Mihocko, Brandon Spencer, Geoff Ensign and Seth Parker. The 2 b mains for the last chance to get in the A were won by Brandon Morin and Koby Barksdale. This setup the A main and the invert that was spun on the wheel was a 3 which put Brandon Spencer and Tye Mihocko on the front row of the 25 lap A main. Brandon was good on the bottom early and the 24P of Tye was of course good up on the ledge. In turn 4 the ledge was very high both on the track and in vertical terms. There were great battles on the bottom from like 3rd through 7th. On the top it was Tye and Geoff banging the cushion on both ends of the track and you could tell this could be the last slider wins. At the halfway point Koby Barksdale who won the B main had started 17th and he was up to 8th already. On the final 5 laps it was getting intense between the 24p and the 44. Tye led the most laps in the feature and it appeared he might visit victory circle once again. The points leader Geoff Ensign made a final run on the last lap and took the checkers for the big win. Kudos to an outstanding run for all the top 5 putting on a fantastic show and the entire 43 car field to show how much great talent we get to enjoy here in Indiana. Following Geoff Ensign at the finish it was Tye Mihocko, Brian Hayden, Koby Barksdale(from 17th) and Seth Parker. This field was outstanding and next weekend is the huge Josh Burton Memorial Friday with MSCS at Bloomington and then back to LPS Saturday with the King Of Non Wing where all sprints will run a feature.
The UMP Mods had a great field of 26 cars. We had some of the top cars in the nation and most of the top 10 in Southern Indiana in the house. Fast times in the 3 groups went to Rob Brickert, Derek Losh and Matt Mitchell. The invert for the heats was a 3 and the heat winners were Will Bennett, Derek Groomer and Jeff Deckard. Cullen Goodman was able to win the B main in his first appearance in the mod this season. This setup the A main and the invert was a 2 which put Derek Groomer and Will Bennett on the front row. With Derek on the front row he would be tough to beat. Him and Will have had great seasons and Losh who is 2nd in the nation along with Wever who is leading the state could also be factors for sure. The D48 took the early lead and he would hold off Derek Losh for his 13th win of the year. Following him at the line it was Derek Losh, Jordan Wever, Rob Brickert and Will Bennett. Thanks to all the great UMP teams that came out for an outstanding show with many heavy hitters. Next Friday night at the Burton Memorial it is another big mod show for 1 grand to win and make sure you get those Hoosiers painted Orange.
The UMP Super Stocks had a huge field also of 26 cars. The 3 quick times in their groups were Wade Goodale, Larry Raines and Matt Raber. The wheel spin for the invert was a 3. Heat winners were Elijah Freeland, Austin Phelps and Jeff Allen. Devin Wallen was able to win the B main and put it in the show where the invert for the A was a 2. This would be a great battle also with most of the top UMP points guys in attendance at LPS. Austin Phelps was able to hold on for the big win over Larry Raines, Jeff Allen, Josh Litton(from 11th) and Elijah Freeland. Thanks to all the UMP Super Stocks for you support and Friday night at the Josh Burton Memorial it is 1 grand to win for Super Stocks and get those Hoosiers painted orange.
The Bombers had a field of 13 with the fast times in their groups going to Joey Raber and Jordan Almanza. The heat invert was a spin of a 1. Joey Raber and Corey Amstead were the heat race winners. The feature invert was a 2 which put Corey Amstead and Tyler Rodgers on the pole. Joey Raber was going for 3 in a row starting in the 10th place. Corey and Tyler really had a great race early. About halfway the 59 of David Wallen was headed to the front and passed all the top 3 to get their and he would take the lead and go to victory lane with a big win. Following him at the line it was Tyler Rodgers, Corey Amstead, Joey Raber and Megan Cavaness. Another great show for the Bombers as there were many 2 wide battles during the 15 laps.
The Mod Lites had 10 entries and Andy Tragesser who leads their points picked up the heat race win and also won the A main to help his points lead. Following him at the line it was Ryker WIlliams, John Wright, Jeff Cast and Chip Stitsworth. Another great show for the mod lites group where the numbers keep going up building a solid field of cars.
The MMSA group brought 21 cars to LPS. The heat race winners were Bryan Brewer, Logan Anderson and Jeremy Schnepper. The A main went to Bryan Brewer who has won 3 in a row and is on a momentum roll. He finished ahead of Brad Strunk, Kayla Roell, Mike Larrison and Cody Trammell. Thanks goes out to all of the 138 teams who put on an outstanding show! This Friday Night At Bloomington Speedway it is the Josh Burton Memorial which will be another awesome show with 10 Grand on the line for the victory plus lap money. Thanks to everyone that sponsors this race and especially to the Burton family for always having a great night to honor one of our local heroes for sure. See you next weekend which will be an exciting time at both tracks.
