Tye Mihocko Gets Through Traffic At LPS Swiftly To Take Checkers In A 34 Car Field

The Sprint cars had a huge 34 car field. Fast times were Tye Mihocko 14.879, Brian Hayden 14.070, Alec Sipes 13.889 and Brent Beauchamp 13.634. The heat races would be top 4 to the A with an invert of 2. Heat race 1 was won from the pole by Frank Guerrini over Tye Mihocko, Brandon Mattox and Jordan Kinser. Heat race 2 was won by Seth Parker who came from 4th over Evan Mosley, Brandon Spencer and Ricky Lewis. Heat race 3 was won from the pole by Jadon Rogers over Alec Sipes, Matt Mcdonald and Aydn Schmidt. The final heat was won by Brent Beauchamp over Harley Burns, Tim Creech II and Zack Pretorius. This setup the B main only taking 4 and it was loaded with some great drivers and was like an A main itself with 18 cars going for 4 spots. Brayden Fox who had just won the A main at the red clay the night before won the B main over Rob Caho Jr., Gabriel Gilbert and Shayna Ensign making the A main. The A main was now set and the invert was a 7 so Alec Sipes and Evan Mosley got the front row. They had a good battle early for the lead but the 24P champ from 2022 was quickly to the front starting from the 3rd spot as there were a lot of slicing and dicing behind him from 4th to 10th that were all over the bottom and top changing positions. By lap 5 Tye was flying on the low groove and he could start to see the back of the field early. Sure enough by lap 10 it was time to see how Tye would make it through the lapped cars as he was starting to come up on groups of 2 and 3 cars to lap. Tye did an amazing job working his way through the lapped cars in the back and was able to hold on to his lead. Toward the middle of the race Jadon Rogers had came from 5th to 2nd on the cushion and was trying to get close enough to start the famous slide jobs but he fell short as Tye was hitting his marks on the bottom and would go on for the win. Following Tye Mihocko at the finish it was Jadon Rogers, Brandon Mattox from 9th, Seth Parker and Brayden Fox who came from 17th to 5th. The 2nd feature was won by Cody Trammell over Koby Barksdale and Ivan Glotzbach. Thanks to all the awesome 34 sprint car teams who put on another outstanding night for our awesome fans!!
The UMP Super Stocks had a strong field of 22 cars. The 3 fast times were Wade Goodale 15.951, Justin Massie 15.876 and Jeff Allen 15.741. The heat race invert was a 4 and heat race 1 Wade came from 4th to win his heat over Travis Heramb and Ray Walters. Heat race 2 UMP Points leader Josh Litton won it over Jordan Almanza and Justin Massie. The final heat was won by Larry Raines from 3rd over Ryan Freeland and Devin Wallen. This setup the A main and with an invert of 5 which put Jordan Almanza and Travis Heramb on the front row. Jordan and Travis would have a good battle early to start. These 2 would be tested early though as Larry Raines and Wade Goodale were looking very fast like their heat races. Larry would be able to get the top spot and survive some carnage from a lapped car accident. The LPS champ from 2022 was very strong and went on for the 20 lap win. Larry Raines at the finish was followed by Wade Goodale, Josh Litton, Devin Wallen and Jordan Almanza.
The UMP Mods had 20 entries and the 3 that led their groups in qualifying were Logan Mounce 15.505, Derek Losh 15.365 and Jerry Bland 15.199. The heat race invert was a 3. Heat race 1 this didn't slow Logan Mounce as he came from 3rd to win the heat over Tyler Loughmiller and Cody Wright. Heat race 2 Derek Losh also came from 3rd to win his heat over Matt Mitchell and Scott Carrington. The final heat was won by Travis Shoulders over Jerry Bland Jr. and Jake Leitzman. The invert for the A was a 2. This put Derek and Logan on the front row. Derek would be going for his 7th win on the season. The 3 heat race winners would show that they were very strong for the evening even in the main event as all 3 of them were up front the whole 20 laps. Derek would build a nice lead and get the win over Logan Mounce, Travis Shoulders, Matt Mitchell and Tyler Loughmiller.
The Bombers had 8 cars with Corey Anstead leading the way in qualifying with a 16.661. The heat race invert was a 3 and Joey Raber led from the pole and won the heat over Corey Anstead and David Bumgardner. The A main invert was a 2 which put Joey and Corey on the front row. Corey would take the early lead but it would be David Wallen that would look strong in the 59 for the night and he would come from 5th to take the lead and the win over Joey Raber, Megan Cavaness, David Bumgardner and Corey Anstead.
The Hoosier Mod Lites had 15 entries for the night. This was a great car count for their first trip to LPS in 2023. Heat race 1 was won by Josh Hutchinson over Casey Davis and Chris Hutton. Heat race 2 was won by Jimmy Arthur over Brendan McGlothlin and Tad Canada. This setup the A main with an invert of 2 so the heat race winners would be on the front row. Josh and Jimmy looked strong early in the 15 lap race. Josh Hutchinson would start catching the back of the field in a fast pace early in the race. He did a great job dealing with the lapped traffic and definitely looked very strong from the state of Illinois. Josh Hutchinson would build his lead the last 5 laps and take the big win over Brenden McGlothlin, Casey Davis, Joe Boyll and Jeff Cast. Thanks to all the great race teams and fans that came out for our Fan Rememberance Night at LPS. Don't forget next Thursday night at LPS is Indiana Midget Week with our Sprint cars also making it a great Thursday to be at the Capitol of the Cushion.
