Larry Raines And Derek Losh Keep The Momentum Going To Victory Lane At LPS

Saturday night at LPS brought some cool weather and overcast skies and the LPS clay was very fast the entire night with the sprints turning 12 second laps even during the 25 lap A main. The non wing heros had 18 entries for the night with Brayden Fox and Chance Crum leading the way in their groups. Heat race 1 was won by Geoff Ensign who held off Tyler Kendall, Tye Mihocko, Zack Pretorius and Brayden Fox. Heat race 2 Seth Parker won it from the pole over Harley Burns, Mitch Wissmiller, Chance Crum and John Sluss. This setup the A main and with an invert of 2 Geoff and Seth would also make up the front row for the A main. This would be a very fast track still come feature time. Early in the race unfortunately there was a crash involving 4 cars ending the night for both Tyler Kendall and Ivan Glotzbach. This also would send Harley Burns to the work area so he would have to restart 16th. On the restart it was Geoff Ensign taking the top spot and looked really strong in the 3F entry. Geoff was good in the middle and the top for sure. Halfway through the race and we still had multiple cars up front turning 12.8 second laps as you could say the moisture was still in the clay all day. The 2nd half of the race it was definitely the 38P of Seth Parker that had put it on the cushion and he was headed to the front and would storm to the top spot and take it away from Geoff. The final 10 laps Seth was on a mission and conquered the fast cushion hitting his marks and giving him another win at LPS. Following Seth at the finish it was Tye Mihocko, Geoff Ensign, Mitch Wissmiller, Brayden Fox, Chance Crum and John Sluss. Thanks to all the 18 teams that came to LPS and put on a great show for the fans.
The UMP Mods had 19 strong entries with just 3 nights to go in the 2023 LPS season for them. The 3 fast times in their groups were Derek Losh, Wes McClara and Tyler Loughmiller. The invert for the heats was a 1. Derek Losh was able to win his heat over Richie Lex and Travis Shoulders. Heat race 2 Wes McClara was able to hold off Logan Mounce and Doug Bryant. The final heat Matt Mitchell the points leader won it over Dustin Bruce and Tyler Loughmiller. This setup the A main and the invert was a 3 which put Matt and Wes on the front row. Matt Mitchell would have a nice battle with Wes for the lead and Matt would take his Diamond to the front spot. This would then be the battle of Rensselaer pilots. The 2M of Matt was very strong early holding off the 21 of Losh. At the halfway point Derek was able to put it up on the high side and would get a run on Matt and would pass him for the lead. Derek Losh would then go on to take his 15th win at LPS and his 22nd win for the year. Following Derek at the finish it was Matt Mitchell, Logan Mounce, Wes McClara and Richie Lex. Thanks to all 19 UMP mod teams for putting on a great show.
The UMP Super Stocks had 15 entries and the fast times were Wade Goodale and Larry Raines. Nick Kinnett got a big heat race 1 win over Ryan Freeland and Elijah Freeland. Heat race 2 Justin Massie got the win over Larry Raines and Devin Wallen. This setup the A main and the invert was a 3 which put Ryan Freeland and Justin Massie on the front row. The 55J of Justin Massie took the lead up on the high side. Him and Ryan Freeland looked strong early with Justin up high and Ryan down low. Points leader Larry Raines then got around Ryan for 2nd and was really fast on the bottom while Justin Massie was really fast on the top. This 2 ran bumper to bumper for many laps. It was the final 5 laps that would get real interesting with lapped cars coming up. Justin hit his marks good from lap 15 to 18 holding the lead. On the final lap Justin took a low groove move coming up on a lapped car and it ended up slowing him down on the bottom and Larry Raines would take the lead on the top groove and go on for his 7th victory of the season. Following Larry Raines at the checkers it was Justin Massie, Jordan Almanza, Tucker Chastain and Ryan Freeland. Another great show by all the the Super Stock teams for the fans.
The Bomber division had 17 cars to end the night and their fast times were Corey Anstead and Megan Cavaness. Heat race 1 went to Cameron Carrington over Josh Foxworthy and Corey Anstead. The final heat of the night went to Megan Cavaness over Tyler Rodgers and Scott Tidwell. This would setup the 15 lap A main and with an invert of 2 which put the heat race winners on the front row. Cameron Carrington would look very strong early trying for his 1st feature win in the Bomber division. He had some great speed for sure and held off some of the best in the bomber division. Cameron would hit his marks perfect and build his lead the final 5 laps picking up his 1st huge A main victory. Following him at the finish it was Josh Foxworthy, Megan Cavaness, Tyler Rodgers and Scott Tidwell. Congrats to Cameron on his 1st win and a very strong perfomance.
The modlites had 10 entries with the heat race win going to Tad Canada. The feature win would go to Brenden McGlothlin over Tad Canada, Andy Tragesser, Joe Boyll and Kyle Hutton. Thanks to all the teams that came to LPS and our great fans. We have 2 more regular nights with our normal 4 classes but then we have the Maverick Wing Series On Friday October 6th and finishing it out with the High Limit Series on Tuesday October 10th. Even though we are winding down 2023 there is still 4 great nights at LPS and we hope to see you there!!
