LPS Win Goes to Jack Hoyer, Matt Mitchell, Wade Goodale and Tyler Rodgers

The sprint cars had 19 entries for the night with fast times going to Matt Goodnight, Tye Mihocko and Jack Hoyer. This would setup heats with the fast guys starting 4th. Heat race 1 had Jesse Vermillion make a strong move from 3rd to take the heat over Nick Bilbee, Nate Ervin and Matt Goodnight. Heat race 2 Beau Brandon won it from the pole leading every lap over Nic Harris, Cody Fendley and Tye Mihocko. The final heat was won by Seth Parker from the pole over Blake Vermillion and Ivan Glotzbach. This setup the 25 lap A main and once again we would have a first time winner at LPS which is really exciting to kick off this year. Jack Hoyer drew the pole and he was able to hit his marks all 25 laps holding off some really good drivers picking up his 1st win at LPS. Very exciting victory lane as Jack is very strong in the family car along when he gets in the Paul Hazen ride up north. Congrats to Jack and the team for an exciting win and he held off Nick Bilbee who came from 7th, Matt Goodnight, Beau Brandon, Seth Parker and Jesse Vermillion. Thanks to all the teams who put on an outstanding show again at LPS.

The UMP Mods had 13 entries with the fast times going to Jerry Bland Jr. and Lucas Pace in each of their groups. Heat race 1 had a good battle with Sydney Landes taking the win over Jim Mallery and Dustin Golden. Heat race 2 Jordan Wever won over RT Gamble and Matt Mitchell. This setup the 20 lap A main and the top groove was starting to show a lot of speed after the 25 lap Sprint car feature. 2024 champ would start 7th and by lap 10 he was up on the cushion and making a move for 3rd. Lucas Pace and Dustin Golden the teammates from Bedford showed a lot of speed up front and were running the low to middle grooves. The final 3 laps Matt was able to get the upper groove to really be the spot to be and rocketed his diamond to the front taking the win over Luca Pace, Dustin Golden, Jim Mallery and Chris Cole. The UMP mods put on an excellent show every week and it will be interesting to see the UMP points when they come out to see our local guys climbing to the top.

UMP Super stocks had 9 entries and Wes McClara had the fast time at 15.332. Jordan Almanza won the heat race over Devin Wallen, Ryan Freeland and Cody Tate. Both Wade and Wes had problems in the heat so they would have to start towards the back of the 20 lap A main. Jordan and Devin had a good battle early at the front of the A but Wade and Wes were both coming to the front from their 7th and 9th starting spots. The 14G showed his power as the champ and took the lead and was able to make the top and bottom work in route to the victory. Wes made a hard charge from 9th to 2nd with Devin Wallen, Ryan Freeland and Cody Tate rounding out the top 5.

The Bombers had 11 entries for the night and the 2 fast times were Randy Foxworthy and Josh Foxworthy in their groups. Heat race 1 had Katie Grigsby win it from outside the front row holding off Scott Tidwell, Randy Foxworthy and Jeremy Tate in his return. Heat race 2 Josh stormed from the 4th starting spot to win his heat over Brad Davis, Tyler Rodgers and Josh Vancleave. This setup the A main for 15 laps and it came down to the final 2 laps. Katie and Randy started on the front row but the champ in the #38 took an early lead and looked as if he would take the checkers again. Tyler Rodgers started 6th and by lap 10 he was knocking on the door and really was catching Josh. The final 2 laps were wild as they got into lapped traffic and Tyler made the correct move in the traffic and took the lead from Josh and went on for the big win. Following Tyler and Josh at the finish it was Scott Tidwell, Katie Grigsby and Jeremy Tate rounding out the top 5. Please join us this Saturday at LPS for another exciting race in all 4 of our divisions. See you at the Big Curb Saturday in beautiful downtown Putnamville Indiana.
