Shane Cottle puts the #34 in Victory Lane At LPS

The LPS pits were packed and a juiced up clay palace after the rains the night before. 39 sprints were on hand and the fast times in their groups were Trey Osborne, Daylan Chambers, Zack Pretorius and Jacob Boxell. This field was stacked and the crew chiefs are a stacked field in our LPS pits every week also. Heat race 1 Harley Burns won it over Trey Osborne, Seth Parker and Kyle Johnson. Heat 2 Daylan came from 4th to win it over Chance Crum, Austin Cory and Wes Pinkerton. Heat 3 Shane Cottle won it from the pole over Tony Helton, Zack Pretorius and Brandon Spencer. The final heat went to Cale Coons over Cody Trammell, Jacob Boxell and Gabriel Gilbert. This setup 2 B mains that were like features with the talent in them. B main 1 Hunter Maddox won it over Evan Mosley and only taking 2 it was a fierce battle in both B mains. The final B Jack Hoyer won it over Mason Giddens both headed to the show. This setup another wild 25 lapper with sliders and other wild passes. Shane Cottle drew the last pill the 7 in the bucket. Sure enough he put on a show from there. Trey Osborne was strong throughout the race but had company behind him once they got into lapped traffic Trey’s lead started to shrink. Harley had a very fast car taking the lead for a moment and then here came the 34 as he had diced his way from 7th to second with still 5 laps to go. On a restart it appeared the cushion was higher than an office chair by now and they were ripping it out of 4 every lap. Shane made a move in lapped traffic with like a gaggle of cars in front of Trey at the last portion of the race and went on for a wild finish taking the win. Shane was followed at the finish line by Trey Osborne, Harley Burns, Zack Pretorius, Jacob Boxell, Cale Coons, Daylan Chambers, Brandon Spencer, Jack Hoyer and Seth Parker. Both Jack and Brandon passed a lot of cars getting up into the Top Ten. If you have friends that haven’t been to LPS tell them about how great these first 2 sprints show have been because it has been wild with sliders galore and our cheeseburgers are way better than a slider anyway. ??

The UMP Mods had a stout field of 18 and the fast times were Derek Losh and Lucas Pace. Tyler Loughmiller would win heat 1 over Derek Losh, Matt Mitchell and Jimmy Hayden. Heat race 2 Kenny Carmichael won it from the pole over Nic Leitzman, Cody Wright and Lucas Pace. This setup the 20 lap A main with Kenny and Derek drawing the front row. Derek is tough to beat from any position but when he starts on the front row it is tough on any field. The 21 was a rocket and diced his way through lapped traffic and with just 5 to go had already put 10th place a lap down. The battle for 2nd was a great battle between Kenny, Matt and Tyler. Behind Derek through the lapped traffic at the finish it was Matt Mitchell, Kenny Carmichael, Tyler Loughmiller, Lucas Pace, Rob Fuqua and Nic Leitzman.

The UMP Super Stocks had 18 entries and the two fast times were Dustin Bruce and Devin Wallen. Heat 1 Matt Raber won it from the pole over Cody Tate and Dustin Bruce. Heat 2 Lee Hobbs came from 5th to win it over Chris Bennett and Devin Wallen. This setup the 20 lap main event and the front row was Matt and Dustin. Lee Hobbs would be strong again coming from 3rd and took the lead over those 2 and would go on for his 2nd win in a row at LPS. Following the HO at the finish it was Devin Wallen, Dustin Bruce, Chris Bennett and Cody Tate.

The Bombers had 18 entries and it was a stacked field. Sheldon Oberle and Scott Tidwell started the night with fast times in their groups. Josh Foxworthy would be able to hold off Sheldon in heat 1 for the win. Heat race 2 Scott Tidwell came from 4th to win it over Katie Grigsby which put only Scott from that heat in the redraw. This setup the A main and Scott drew the pole but the 105 of Sheldon Oberle won 2 in a row starting from the outside front row position. The 2nd place battle was great as 1 lap in turn 3 Scott, Josh and Katie were 3 wide headed out of turn 2. Sheldon held on for the big win over Josh Foxworthy, Scott Tidwell, Katie Grigsby, Josh Litton and Brad Davis.

The Kenyon Midgets had 15 entries and they put on an outstanding show. The top 3 in quals were Aryton Houk, Ryan Huggler and Kyle Sheard with 6 cars in the 15 second range. Aryton Houk would win heat race 1 with Graham Huffman taking heat race 2. Aryton Houk would pull off the clean sweep as he put his #78 in victory lane and held off Isaac Johnson, Graham Huffman and Evan Hammond. The feature went green to checkers in 5 minutes and 13 seconds. It was a great Mothers Day weekend at LPS and we will see you in 2 weeks for the Memorial weekend race which is always great to see the people from out of state that are hear for the 500 and see some great racing the night before at LPS. Thanks to all the fans and the 108 teams that put on a great show.
